Oh NO!! I can totally understand that people like the Twilight Sage, for some mysterious and inexplicable reason I can't seam to get, but it can in no way be compared to the greatness of The Gemma Doyle trilogy. People keep comparing the two and it pisses me of. In just three books Libba addresses and explores such huge and important issues like:
- Homosexuality
- Racism
- Social discrimination
- Child abuse
- Self inflicted injuries
- Drugs
- Alcoholism
- Freedom of speech and will
- Women's rights
And philosophical questions such as wrong and right, heaven and hell, fate and choices, social limitations and personal ambitions and so on.
The Twilight Sage is like: Edward is handsome, Edward is gorgeous, Edward has great hair, Edward has shinny teeth, Edward is rich and beautiful, Edward has an ostentatious car, Edward's breath smells great, Bella dreams about Edward, Bella loves Edward, Bella fainted when Edward kissed her and so on for 512 pages.
Those two books have nothing in common.
Great agruement. That's a great way to promote this series I admit I do like twilight, but I actually don't really like Edward. Too me he seems stuck up... I can't really explain why I like the series tho' but for me the books were a page turner

^I agree, Poison Study was definitely the best, though I thought the last one actually came pretty close. I love the short stories Maria V. Snyder has on her website, too! She really has such an great grasp on character. Have you read the companion series?
