Libba is one of those author's who didn't exactly tie things up in a nice, neat bow; she basically left things pretty open and let the reader's to imagine all the character's lives after the end of TSFT. For me, everything's quite hazy; I imagine everyone's post-TSFT life in very different ways (the only thing I DEFINETLY have in my personal AGATB canon is that Ann and Charlie, the writer for her show, getting together.)
How does everyone else imagine the lives of Gemma, Ann, Fee the realms creatures, and many others to go after the ending?

Um, Kartik comes back, of course!
Haha, well, I see Gemma going to one of those NY schools that gave girls an equal education to men at the time, like Elmira or Vassar, and meeting a lot of awesome professors who help her to grow into her full potential as the strong, self-assured, and smart woman she is becoming. Fee definitely lives it up in Montmartre, doing just what she says she would! And I completely agree about Ann and Charlie falling in love!!

I agree with juniper about Ann. I can totally see her having a pretty good career in the theater and eventually getting together with Charlie, having a lovely and happy family and growing old together with many grandchildren and their own theater company.
I can see Fee going to Paris, taking Polly with her of course, and living a truly bohemian life with a lot of parties and debauches, shocking the well mannered society by wearing pants and floating rumours about enjoying female company. I can also see her attracting the attention and affection of a really powerful man. An affection Fee would indulge in order to enjoy and, why not occasionally abuse, the indirect power and influence her relationship with him would get her. She would live a full life, truly free and die content with no regrets amongst a few but dear friends and a lot of enemies. I don't think Fee would want it any other way.
As for Gemma…..she's the one whose future I find it the hardest to imagine. If Kartik had survived I could see them getting back in Bombay together and staying together for the rest of their lives in spite the difficulties that would arise. Kartik would get into trade and Gemma would continue with her work in the realms and The Order. However, now Kartik is gone and Gemma's future is blurry in my mind. I do believe she's bound to continue her work with The Order and she more than anyone else would have reasons to crave to return to the realms and to a certain tree but other than that…..?! She's obviously pursuing an academic education and could eventually become a teacher but I can't bring myself to imagine her falling for another man and that's pretty unfair cause she deserves a family.

Know what? I've decided. Kartik's alive. Yup, yup...*keeps telling self that* You should team up with Sinead from the aGaTB thread over at the ew.net boards and petition for a fourth book Even though I highly doubt you could persuade Libba to change what she's already written and that's actually one thing I really love about her and all authors like Libba who won't bend to their fans' demands and do what's best for the plot.

Haha, yeah, she's definitely great like that! I just tend to fall into denial a lot, and it's really rather a nice place to be *sigh* blissful denial. I'll certainly check that thread out, thanks for helping me to continue the lovely illusion =D

i like to believe that gemma found a way to free kartik and bring him back... yep, thats exactly what happened. Which begs the question: Was Kartik killed or was he simply trapped? Kartik wasn't just 'hit' by the Tree's (or the Winterlands') magic and consumed (?) by it, he also took Gemma's injuries saving her life. So even if there is a way for Kartik to be freed by the Tree he might still lose his life to his injuries cause right now the only thing that keeps him 'alive' is the magic.
I dread to think that the Tree's magic might corrupt Kartik in time just like it did with Spence. I choose to believe it's going to be the other way around. Kartik will change the Tree.

I decided (to ease myself after I finished TSTF) that this wouldn't happen, because Kartik gave himself willingly as a sacrifice, while Spence didn't. Also, I think you're right on with that Kartik will change the Tree. I remember some realms creatures saying something like, "The tree/magic can't die completley, it can only be changed."

This topic is pretty old, but I'll reply anyway XD
For Gemma:
Difficult for me to imagine. I definately see her becoming a prominent figure in women's rights at the time, as well as pursuing her education. I think she'd be a wonderful teacher, but as for love life, I think she'll find someone. Perhaps. It's unfair to think that she'll grow old and die single, but, at the same time, some people do well without marriage.
Ann:
She hooks up with Charlie after a while, and overcomes her inseccureties, for the most part. I see her becoming more open and happy, but still Ann. Lots of kids, man. She's be a good mother, I can definately see her spoiling them and babying them a lot.
Felicity:
Another difficult one. I don't think she'd had much success in Paris at first. But after a year or two, I think she'd find her footing and purchase a nice posh home and enjoy the life of a Bohemian to it's fullest. Lots of parties, affairs, spreading rumors, etc. But not in a loose fashion. Just in a 'Fee-fashion' as I like to call it. She's loose even by modern standards, but I don't think she's a total very *friendly* person.
Now, this part is just me wishful thinking. I'm writing a personal fanfiction where she goes off to Japan and meets a totally charming guy and gets into relations with him, but not a marital one, where he eventually moves to Paris with her and she takes Polly in with her, confronts her beast of a father, and lives a nice long life. A complicated one, but a nice one. Haha. Wishfull thinking, wishfull thinking...

^OMG, that ff sounds awesome! Please post the link when you're done!
And I love Libba for leaving the "future" up to her fans...and for quoting Sondheim =)

I'm started to think that Fee, after many years of partying in Paris does find love again, with an Egyptian woman who has come to Fee to seek out advice about the realms. Cause also in my mind, Gemma has divided the power equally among the Realms, The Order (which I've decided she is the head of) and the Rakshana (which Fowlson now controls), and was able to give some of the Order power to Ann, Fee and Mrs. Nightwing. And so this woman, after years of trying to keep the magic away, hears about Fee and goes to her for help...and then they fall in love.

I somehow can't see Fee and Ann involved in the Order and the Reamls.
Fee and Ann got involved with the magic by accident and only because the magic could fill the holes in their lives but since they both fulfilled their dreams (Ann gets a part in the theater and Fee gets her heritage and moves to Paris) they don't need it anymore. Now they both have all they need in the real world where they truly belong. The magic, the Realms and The Order is only Gemma's destiny. They might occasionally offer her their help, if Gemma requests it, but generally speaking I can't see them possessing magic.
I also can't see Fowlson as the head of the Rakshana. The Rakshana is an ancient organisation constituted by very powerful people I highly doubt they'd ever allow Fowlson to pass them over.
